Work Location: GPC General Services Headquarters – Forest Park, GA Bldg. 2C

This position is located in Forest Park, Georgia. Candidate must currently live within a reasonable commute to the complex OR must quickly relocate.

Job Summary:

This position reports to the Metering Services Shop Manager and provides specialized support to the Manager, Metering Services and Metering Services leadership (managers and supervisors), department sections, as well as, departments supported within Shared Services, Customer Service and Power Delivery. Responsibilities include:

  1. Materials management - This position is responsible for managing metering material, purchasing and purchasing activities. Position establishes inventory stock levels, reorder indicators, order forecasting, and initiates material purchases to insure appropriate storage of goods to maximize the efficiency of the operations. Position evaluates supplier reliability, responsiveness and product quality. This includes follow up on any problems regarding purchased materials. Purchasing data analysis for daily operations, project planning and financial forecasting. Provides guidance to less experienced material position(s). Applies understanding, and knowledge to provide direction, assistance, and training to Metering Employees, Supply Chain Management Buyers, Engineering, Field Operating Personnel and Southern Company volume procurement.

  2. Database development - Responsible for the design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of new and existing department databases. Creation of management methods and systems to gather and access information efficiently while insuring data integrity of various databases used within the department.

Position Duties, Responsibilities & Requirements:

  1. Purchasing – Forecasts future material requirements for capital budget development, initiates the purchasing process following quotation, requisition process, and purchase order procedures. Partners with GPC & SOCO Supply Chain Management buyers. Develops strategies for improving purchasing and inventory processes.

  2. Invoicing, delivery and availability - Resolves invoice and delivery tracking issues in conjunction with Disbursement Accounting. Makes local purchases as necessary.

  3. Inventory – establish appropriate economic order quantities, stock levels, safety stock levels, and reorder indicators. Coordinates stock levels at the Materials Distribution Center, Metering Services warehouse and Region warehouse locations to maximize the efficiency of the inventory logistics process. Reviews and prepares reports on turn-over ratios, transactions and related stock levels. Provide guidance to shipping/receiving personnel to direct stock placement, prioritization and respond to material related questions.

  4. Materials Data Accuracy – responsible for accuracy of materials data in Commodity Database, MAXIMO, Approved Vendors & New Vendor Request, vendor reliability reports (review data for supplier performance trends) and all required purchasing documentation. Maintain all documents required to meet quality system requirements.

  5. Specifications – Develop material product specifications in conjunction with Engineering on critical metering products. Create and maintain material product specifications on all non-critical meter products. Responsible for distribution of approved specifications used for purchasing and product acceptance.

  6. Supplier Relations – maintain supplier relations to insure product availability, delivery, invoicing, and specifications to insure material requirements are met and to identify potential new products.

  7. Assists with Southern Company Metering Blanket purchase decisions.

  8. Database activities - Included are the duties of database ongoing maintenance, design and implementation to include data entry, analysis and information presentment.

  9. Responsible for creating, implementing and maintaining various databases in support of the department.

  10. Project management of specific Metering Material assignments.

Position and Education Requirements :

  1. Two year associates degree or equivalent experience (minimum of 3 years) in the specific fields of revenue metering, supply chain management and/or database development.

  2. Knowledge of a broad variety of metering equipment and associated applications is a benefit

  3. At least three years’ advanced experience and knowledge of Maximo.

  4. Maximo Reporting Solutions experience preferred.

  1. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite with a strong emphasis on Excel, Access, and Power Bi with the ability to provide detailed analysis of data.

  2. Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures.

  5. Ability to organize and manage multiple projects/tasks at one time.

  6. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
