Southern Company Junior System Administrator in Durham, North Carolina

Description

The Junior System Administrator is responsible for assisting with the installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting of IT infrastructure systems and equipment. The Systems Administrator would serve as an incident remediation escalation point for the IT Service desk, participate with team members on daily support/maintenance activities and project initiatives.

Qualification Requirements

This is a 7x24x365 support organization and participation in an on-call rotation as well as performing some after-hours work is required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or related technical field with a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience OR 3 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.

  • Strong interpersonal skills including teamwork, written and verbal communications, and positive attitude.

  • Communicate technical concepts into language customers easily understand.

  • Contribute to a safe work environment

  • Travel up to 15%

Professional –

  • Customer Service –1-year experience providing exemplary face to face customer service.

  • Continuing education – demonstrates ability to continuously develop contemporary professional and technical skills.

Technical –

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio

  • 2 years of experience supporting Microsoft server installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.

  • 2 years of experience supporting Microsoft O365, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive.

  • 2 years of experience supporting MS Azure / Active Directory including creation & maintenance of user & computeraccounts, security groups, OUs, GPOs, etc.

  • 2-years of experience supporting Microsoft SCCM, Intune or other similar configuration management systems.

  • 2 years of experience installing, configuring, operating and troubleshooting network equipment such as Routers, Firewalls,Switches, WAPs, etc.

  • 2-years of experience supporting network protocols (DNS, DHCP, SMTP, TCP/IP, UDP)

  • 2-years of experience supporting with VMWare ESXi or Hyper-V virtual environments.

  • 2-years of experience supporting network storage environment technologies (SAN/NAS/iSCSI/NFS)

  • 2-years of experience with cloud data storage environments (OneDrive/SharePoint/AWS/Azure)

    Essential Functions - Provide problem and incident resolution support for the IT Infrastructure as well as work with PS IT team to install, maintain and support all aspect of the PS IT environment. Complies with IT policies, standards and requirements to ensure the resiliency and security of the PS IT environment. Identifies opportunities to continuously implement improvements to the IT environment.

Work Environment

This position is “hybrid” position with 1 day a week on premises as part of a rotation.
