PowerSecure has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Electrical Designer to join our team located in Durham, NC. This is a hybrid work environment. The primary duties of the Electrical Designer are to provide design services for the design and implementation of all DI Products at the Randleman/RTP, NC facility. These design activities are to include the creation of AutoCAD Electrical drawing packages and confirm/verify parts and design information using datasheets and other engineering documentation. This effort will be based on customer or internally provided plans and specifications that will be submitted and then released to manufacturing in accordance with the Product Engineering procedures and standards.
Work on the electrical systems defined in the construction documentation or product specifications for the following.
House Power. Transformer, Panel Board, distribution and conduit, receptacles, lights and switches, HVAC, switchgear heaters, Interface with switchgear controls, Engine block heaters, alternator strip heaters, Gas Train electrical needs, etc.
DC Systems. Station Battery, Racks, consoles, chargers, DC panel Boards and distribution details.
Special electrical/control needs: Comms, gas leak detection, ventilation, fire detection and alarm interface to switchgear controls.
Develop document set; including BOM, schematics, wire/conduit schedules, and other drawing details that will ensure the safe and efficient installation of this equipment.
Identify and execute processes that reduce the overall cost to manufacture, install and operate our electrical infrastructure systems located on our generator and switchgear enclosure products.
Ensure schedules and milestone dates are achieved via the Master Production Schedule.
Prepare engineering drawings from sketches, verbal descriptions, specifications, and technical information.
Maintain our Data via our Vault Professional Application and IFS system in accordance with our SOPs
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficient with Autodesk AutoCAD and Vault
Proficient with MS Office applications like Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills with a desire for continuous improvement.
Knowledgeable with ANSI, NFPA 79, UL, and NEC standards.
Symbols and terminology used in electrical and mechanical engineering drawings
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required in the English language.
Be capable at working on a team or self-directed.
Associate Degree (Preferred) but will consider High School Diploma with relevant work experience.
2-4 years of related Electrical Design experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents which include, but not limited to, work instructions, written directions, and markups to electrical drawings.
Be detail-oriented and accurate and have a positive can-do attitude.
Working knowledge of Basics of Electrical.
Hands on experience with the following tools-Autodesk- AutoCAD and Vault Professional-Preferred
