Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

This position reports to the Application Development Manager, in Generation Technology Services and has responsibility for successfully leading a team of technology professionals supporting Data Acquisition & Data Integration and 24x7 Critical System Desk functions, to meet the business needs for the Fleet Operations & Trading and Financial & Contract Services departments within Commercial Operations. This position will develop and maintain a strong knowledge of the business and will proactively lead and collaborate with business partners to deliver effective business solutions. The position will provide project oversight; ensure effective resource planning including 24x7 on-site coverage through rotating shiftwork; and effectively support the department’s budget

The position is responsible for coordinating with other technology professionals to ensure successful integration of systems and data required for key business functions. This position is responsible for production support and maintenance of key data acquisition & integration technologies such as MV90, PrimeRead, Informatica PowerCenter, and Denodo. Data provisioning for business intelligence initiatives on behalf of Fleet Operations & Trading and Financial & Contract Services is also the responsibility of this position.

This position has overall responsibility for the Critical System Desk which monitors the health of 30 Tier1/Tier2 real-time data systems and applications; providing coordination of problem resolution, maintenance, planned outages, and disaster recovery maintenance/testing.

This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, FERC and other regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand the Commercial Operations business functions and ensure appropriate TO support is in place to meet the business needs, deliver business value and exceed customer expectations.

  • Ensure the highest level of business partnership through delivering application solutions and support that exceed expectations for functionality, quality, cost, and schedule.

  • Establish and maintain working relationships/partnerships where communication and involvement with the stakeholders is central to doing business.

  • Work alongside the Application Development Manager to develop strategic plans with customers and staff to ensure TO projects and initiatives align with current and future business needs.

  • Manage the full software development life cycle of applications including new solution development.

  • Provide oversight to new projects and integration with existing business processes and systems.

  • Ensures monitoring the health of critical real-time data and application environments, while also providing data quality assurance.

  • Facilitates problem resolution, maintenance, and outages.

  • Ensure appropriate disaster recovery plans and business continuity plans are in place and effective.

  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements (Sarbanes-Oxley, FERC, NERC etc.) as well as established practices and procedures (Change management, etc.)

  • Understand IT marketplace to stay abreast of emerging technologies, processes, and methodologies.

  • Hires, develops, rewards, and retains a highly qualified and diverse team

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field is required

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, competitive technology organization.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills including building a strong, results-oriented team; performance management; budget management and/or strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to oversee major cross functional projects

  • Three years of experience in infrastructure and mission critical support is highly preferred.

  • Comprehensive working knowledge of data management systems, data integration, application development and/or business intelligence solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and build relationships with business partners, employees, peers & managers.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex technology issues and make sound business decisions.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop initiatives and deliver results on time and within budgets.

  • Working knowledge of the utility industry is preferred
