Business Operations Analyst

JOB SUMMARY

The Business Operations Analyst is responsible for providing coordination, support, and oversight of financial and business analyses and initiatives. This position also supports Southern Nuclear’s asset management and capital budgeting processes and administers the Corporate Project Review Committee process. Additionally, the position maintains SNC’s interface with the Electric Utility Cost Group (EUCG) Nuclear Committee and provides economic analyses and special studies.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Engineering is required

  • Advanced degree or professional certification is desirable.

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization

  • A strong understanding of and experience with the Company’s budget process and practices, utility operations, and financial analysis is a plus

  • Ability to manage, prioritize, and execute multiple projects simultaneously under limited supervision

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required

  • Proficiency in SOFIA/SARA, PowerPlan, Capital Budworks, and other financial applications is desirable

  • A working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and reporting requirements of the Federal Electric Regulatory Commission (FERC) is preferred.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide ongoing support for the SNC fleet capital budgeting and reporting processes

  • Coordinate and administer SNC’s Corporate Project Review Committee (CPRC) process

  • Lead SNC’s cost benchmarking efforts in support of the annual Electric Utility Cost Group (EUCG) data surveys. Perform cost trend analyses and economic assessments of projects using the EUCG data.

  • Support the development and publication of the annual Strategic Plans, providing joint owners with detailed data and insight into future business plans and strategies.

  • Participate in the development, coordination, and publication of the Southern Nuclear Risk Profile.

  • Prepare and communicate meaningful SNC financial data and analysis to the owner companies and joint owners, as requested.

  • Prepare special studies and analyses, as requested, to support SNC and owner company financial and regulatory strategies and requirements.
