Senior Engineer or Senior Engineer Associate – Distribution Standards and Reliability (2 openings) Level 6E or 5E

Reports to: Distribution Support Manager

Work Location: This is a hybrid job requiring you to report 3 days per week to 241 Ralph McGill Blvd, Atlanta, GA (GPC Corporate Headquarters). This work arrangement is subject to change to require more days in the office. Relocation assistance is available.

JOB SUMMARY:

Sr. Engineer position is responsible for performing Best Practices reviews on jobs from across GPC Distribution. Position will ensure design and estimating follow best practice procedures, provide engineering analysis, assistance, and feedback to Area personnel. Position will help ensure distribution jobs over certain cost thresholds will follow proper governance process. Position will influence job process and procedures on statewide level. Position will teach engineer training classes at Klondike. Performs special projects and works on statewide initiatives and Southern Company initiatives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Position responsible for reviewing jobs over certain cost thresholds for Distribution

  • Performs Best Practices reviews and assists with DPRT processes

  • Ensure jobs follow design and estimating best practices and comply with Distribution Bulletins

  • Provides engineering analysis, assistance, and training for Area personnel

  • Assist with creation and implementation of DPRT/BP dashboard

  • Performs special projects and works on SoCo Distribution initiatives for cost savings, material standardization and design

  • Teach engineering certification classes

  • Provide input, direction, and implementation for job processes and procedures

  • Assist in providing input for Distribution Bulletin changes

  • Position responsible for processing of job through SoFlow approval process

  • Position assists with approval of MPIs (Market Planning Inputs) for jobs requiring PRICEM offers

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education Requirement (The following education or license is required)

  • Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical preferred

  • Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology in Electrical or Mechanical only

  • Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Math or related Science with P.E.

  • Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Math or related Science

Experience Requirements

  • Knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code, OH & UD Distribution systems, policies and procedures

  • Knowledge of Distribution Bulletins, engineering best practices, job estimating requested

  • Understanding of customer service needs

  • Knowledge and understanding of DPRT process preferred

  • Experience in reviewing jobs for Best Practice preferred

  • Knowledge and understanding of budgets preferred

  • Exposure to cost allocation for marginal tariff customers and projects is a plus

  • Familiar with Section 0, SDOP

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and estimating projects for distribution system

  • Two years (2) as a Distribution Engineer I or Engineering Associate I required

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Work hours must be flexible to accommodate multiple projects, customer requests, and inclement weather

  • Must be available to work SERP operations when needed.
