The position is located at the Georgia Power Corporate Headquarters in Atlanta, GA.
The position has a flexible work location including remote and in the office. There will be instances where the employee will be required to work in the office.
The Engineer (Civil) position is responsible for civil design and coordination of civil design activities in the Land Engineering Department of Georgia Power supporting various internal customers. This individual will provide leadership and consultation to the project team in support of acquisition, design, and construction of Georgia Power facilities.
Minimum 2 years of civil engineering site design experience is required. Specific experience in grading, storm water management systems, drainage and erosion control is highly preferred.
Project management experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously preferred.
Experience with the use of CADD for civil engineering design and drafting, working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D required.
Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) tools preferred.
Surveying and/or mapping experience is a plus.

Ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
Working knowledge of the Georgia Erosion and Sedimentation Control Act and regulations related to land disturbance activities is preferred.
Working knowledge of the Georgia Stormwater Management Manual and Manual for Erosion and Sediment Control in Georgia is preferred.
Working knowledge of the NPDES Storm Water Permit requirements.
Strong interpersonal, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are required.
Strong written and oral communications skills required.
The ability to work under pressure and meet critical deadlines is required.
Specific responsibilities will include project management and design/coordination of consultants for grading, erosion and sedimentation control, drainage, etc. to meet all applicable regulations.
Perform design functions and/or facilitate design functions for above in CAD environment.
Provide civil engineering support for the surveying, mapping, design, and construction of various projects, including electric transmission lines, substation facilities, corporate facilities, and site development for various customers.
Provide, as needed, on-site inspections of projects statewide during surveying, mapping, design, and construction.
Provide quality control and assurance of design plans, project review and consultation with various departments, scheduling, cost budgeting and cost analysis, and project inspections.
Evaluation, contracting, and providing work direction for external contract resources.
Maintain client contact and attend project meetings to understand project scope and requirements and to ensure that project schedules are met.
Perform other job responsibilities related to land engineering functions as required.
Ability to travel statewide and perform outdoor inspections and consultation.
Capacity to establish, maintain, and enhance client relationships and to focus on the needs of the client.

Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver’s license is required
Minimum of Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required.
Professional Engineer license in Georgia is preferred.
GaSWCC Level II Design Professional Certification is preferred.
